The Subject: Richard Chai

The Watch: Rolex Cellini in white gold with a crocodile band.

The Details: "It's a manual watch, which means it has to be wound every morning," Chai tells us, adding that he really likes the ritual element of winding the watch as each day begins. "I also appreciate the simple, classic design of the watch and that it can easily be worn for day or night. My parents bought it for me as gift when I won the CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear Designer of the Year in 2010. I've always liked the idea of a watch as a gift you give to commemorate a special occasion in someone's life."
