Washington, D.C.

Start off at Lafayette Square, go past the White House, swerve around placard-holding protesters, and head into the National Mall. Continue straight along the Reflecting Pool toward the Lincoln Memorial.

New York City

Start at 14th Street on the West Side running path, flanking the Hudson River. Run south to Battery Park, where you'll get a view of the Statue of Liberty. Do the park's mile loop, then head back up the river through the throngs of New York's fittest.

Los Angeles

Miles: 2.5

This 2.5-mile dash ends with a sprint up the famed, and daunting, Bunker Hill Steps. Start at S. Hope Street and W. Fourth Street (the top of the steps will be behind you) and head north past the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Hang a right on W. Temple Street, then a right on S. Main Street, and you'll flank City Hall. Once you reach W. Fifth Street, go left.

San Francisco

The Golden Gate Park's outer loop weaves through the Conservatory of Flowers and Strawberry Hill and past the North and South Windmills.

The five-mile loop in Tiergarten park swings you by the city's most storied landmarks. Start at Brandenburg Gate and head north toward the River Spree on the outermost path. You'll pass by the Reichstag, Volkshalle, the Bellevue Palace, and Victory Column. Return on the Strasse des 17 Juni.
