How You Know Her: In just a few short years Marling has quietly transformed herself from Sundance It Girl (Another Earth, Sound of My Voice) to big-screen actress starring alongside Hollywood heavy-hitters Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon in Arbitrage and Robert Redford and Julia Christie in The Company You Keep.

What You Don't Know: Marling has an economics degree from Georgetown and turned down a job at Goldman Sachs to pursue acting. (And there was that one time that she made out with Gillian on "Community." Hey, she's only human.)

Current Project: The East (out Friday), in which she plays an intelligence operative infiltrating an anarchist group. Directed by Sound of my Voice's Zal Batmanglij, Marlin leads a cast that includes Alexander Skarsgard, Ellen Page, and Patricia Clarkson.
