How You Know Her: Aubrey Plaza is the queen of blank stares. Her deadpan April Ludgate made her a fan favorite on Parks and Recreation, a show already saturated with big-name comedic talent. Plaza applies her withering gaze and monotone zingers to almost every role she's played, including ones in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) and Judd Apatow's Funny People (2009).

What You Don't Know: She's paid her dues. While she may have graduated from the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts, her first job out of college was an internship at Samba Post-Its, where she's said one of her jobs was to "literally wallpaper a bathroom with Post-Its."

Later—once decorating with sticky notes was a distant memory—she played a joke on Will Ferrell during the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, when she jumped up on stage and tried to steal his statue during the middle of his acceptance speech. She got kicked out, but at least she didn't leave without having what was later referred to as her "Kanye West moment."

Current Project: Plaza is taking a break from the Debbie Downer routine to play up another one of her well-honed personas: socially awkward nerd chick. In this summer's The To-Do List (out July 26), Plaza's Brandy Clark is a high-school senior with a type-A-overachiever personality whose biggest failing in life thus far is that she's also a virgin. Like the dutiful student she is, Brandy makes a checklist of sexual milestones she'd like to hit, like motorboating, which she figures shouldn't be too hard since "Uncle Andy has a boat." What could possibly go wrong?
