FABRIC: Not all cord suits are made of cotton. Some have cashmere woven into them, which means a heftier price tag but a lush feel.
USE: The blazer-and-jeans look seems easy enough, except most guys make the freshman mistake of wearing a regular wool suit jacket on top. If you don't have a true sports coat—something that's sold without matching pants—the cord suit jacket is the only appropriate sub. Just be sure to dry-clean the jacket and pants together to avoid uneven fading.
Tan is challenging, but not impossible to master. Just keep everything else basic: white shirt, no tie, and brown wing tips.
