The Return of the Graphic Tee

June 2010 Issue

The last time the graphic tee reigned, you were probably surrounded by guys doing keg-stands in a buddy's off-campus apartment. A staple of the nineties, the stylized T-shirt became a fashion punch line thanks to ink-loving labels like Ed Hardy, TapouT and Xtreme Couture. Now, the summer essential is getting a much needed makeunder courtesy of brands as diverse as Maison Martin Margiella and Gap. The only rules: No lame messages—and if you're going to drink a beer while wearing one, make sure it's in a cup.

Aviator Nation
Paige Mycoskie, creator of Aviator Nation, has spent years collecting her own vintage T-shirts so you don't have to. And these lighting bolts are more than just prints—they're cut-outs stitched on to the shirt.
