America's Best Vintage Stores

Where to find perfectly crafted dress shirts, workwear, suits, military looks, and accessories

June 2010 Issue

More than ever, designers are incorporating retro details into their clothes. But sometimes the easiest way to find authentic workmanship is to go directly to the source.

FLEETING FLEAS
The Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, California, may be the gold standard of vintage rummaging, but a new crop of high-end bazaars are giving it a run for its money. These flash markets, promoted by tweet, text, and Facebook, are blink-and-you-miss-'em sales that peddle current, hard-to-find men's goods and take exclusivity to a whole new level. New York's Pop Up Flea, where vendors such as Hickoree's Hard Goods sell wares like this canvas mason bag, will head overseas this month, hosting a sale in London. Fast on its heels is Durable Goods Concern, which will roll out its second effort on June 11 in San Francisco.
