Fashion's Coolest Bro Collectives

Style fraternities like Apolis Activism and Bespoken are responsible for some of the best, most wearable clothes we've seen lately.

The days of the solo designer dictating fashion from his ivory tower may not be totally over (Karl Lagerfeld, anyone?), and dynamic duos like DSquared and Rag & Bone aren't going anywhere either, but for the first time in recent memory creative groups are on the rise. These young collectives—kind of like the garage bands of fashion—are run by guys, often childhood friends, and make clothes for men who care about style but not necessarily fashion, proving that three, or even five, minds can be better than one.

RIVIERA CLUB
Who (left to right) : Joe Sadler, 31; Greg Ullery, 28; and Derek Buse, 29
What: Conceived on a golf course by three longtime friends, Riviera Club channels the laid-back, sunny vibe of Santa Barbara, which is where Sadler, Ullery, and Buse spend their time surfing, golfing, and designing the kind of clothes that make you want to attend a beach bonfire but are also appropriate for a New York City watering hole.
