Fashion's Coolest Bro Collectives

Style fraternities like Apolis Activism and Bespoken are responsible for some of the best, most wearable clothes we've seen lately.

October 28, 2010

The days of the solo designer dictating fashion from his ivory tower may not be totally over (Karl Lagerfeld, anyone?), and dynamic duos like DSquared and Rag & Bone aren't going anywhere either, but for the first time in recent memory creative groups are on the rise. These young collectives—kind of like the garage bands of fashion—are run by guys, often childhood friends, and make clothes for men who care about style but not necessarily fashion, proving that three, or even five, minds can be better than one.

The Look: Beautifully tailored and surprisingly relaxed. You'll find skinny-lapel blazers with jeans, crisp gingham shirts, and subtle details, like contrast stitching on the boutonniere.
