"We still want to rock with a young crowd," says Tommy Hilfiger, explaining why he created his edgy new line, Tommy. Though the debut collection is rooted in the iconic 59-year-old designer's signature preppy aesthetic, its slim cuts and idiosyncratic details show that these clothes are for men who appreciate a little irony with their tweed. Oxford-cloth shirts feature a barely-there embroidery of tiny spectacles, long johns and trim cargos replace chinos, and crewneck sweaters have rebellious neon trim. "The clothes are eclectic," Hilfiger says. "Some look modern, others vintage. It's about the mix and creating individual style." And individuality is always in fashion.
