Marble Without the Weight

Four beautiful pieces that make a big impression without the hernia.

August 2010 Issue

From the Venus de Milo to the Taj Mahal, marble has always been a great way to make a big impression. More recently, Marc Newson's 2,000-pound bookshelf and Rick Owens' two-ton stone daybed both required a crane to cart them home. But the Bouroullec brothers' Murano-glass-and-marble hurricane lantern achieves the look without the hernia.
