Ping-pong has been out of the rec room a few years now. You may have heard about a fancy bar-club dedicated to the sport, SPiN Galactic, with locations in New York City, Toronto, and Milwaukee—cofounded by actor Susan Sarandon. They brought on Todd Oldham to do interior design. Well, the ball keeps on rolling; international designers have been unveiling masterful modernist spins on the traditional table in the past few months made of sculptural concrete, ash wood, solid teak, and other exotic materials. Highbrow furniture-design company Akke Functional Art offers this "Pingtuated Equilibripong" table in exotic wood with reclaimed fittings. The net is removable and the table can be used as a dining table.
