Why Car Mash-Ups Are All The Rage

Call it the new math: two automakers teaming up to produce one sweet ride.

September 2012 Issue

Dodge Dart
(Chrysler + Fiat)
$16,790

Detroit's original Dart was a doobie-scented compact, but beneath the body of this revived model it's anything but laid-back. The best of the guts are courtesy of the Fiat-made Alfa Romeo Giulietta, including the must-have option of a 160-hp Fiat MultiAir turbo engine. This Italian-American is as attractive as it is sensible, with 39 miles per gallon.

Photographs courtesy of each manufacturer.
